Zizek on "Children of Men"
(Unfortunately, YouTube won't let me embed.)
"Children of Men" is one of my favorite films. I think Zizek expands on the beauty of its subtleties perfectly. You've got the literal meaning of "infertility" which is happening everywhere...but beyond that, you've got the metaphorical connotations that come along with being "infertile." Zizek claims this metaphor captures the "ideological despair of late capitalism." Society (not only Britain's society, but the world) is existing without history, without future--it is infertile in it's own right.
